Nebius Group Secures Approval for Massive AI Factory in Missouri
Nebius Group (NBIS) received unanimous approval from the Independence City Council to construct a 1.2-gigawatt AI factory campus spanning 400 acres. The project promises 1,200 construction jobs and 130 permanent roles, with Nebius committing $650 million in community payments over two decades.
The facility features closed-loop cooling and noise-dampening technology, powered by Independence Power & Light. This marks Nebius' largest U.S. AI infrastructure project to date, with CEO Arkady Volozh calling it a "strategic anchor" for their planned 16-site global network by 2026.
Pre-market trading saw NBIS shares rally on the news, reflecting investor confidence in Nebius' vertical integration strategy for AI compute capacity. The company has parallel projects advancing in New Jersey, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Alabama.
